Maintaining Genuine Communication While Using Technology in Organizations

The instant availability to talk to anyone anywhere is what makes technology an integral part of the workplace environment.  Technology tools like instant messaging, audio and video conferencing, or live streaming over internet increase the speed at which we expect our employees to respond to workplace questions or issues.  Also, using emojis, abbreviations, and gifs have caused us to shorten our messages and often misinterpret conversations that occur using these technologies.

Have these tools led to a decline in achieving genuine and clear messages with each other and across the organization?  Have these tools increased productivity while diminishing interpersonal relationship building?  The health of these interpersonal relationships have long been linked to both efficiency and job satisfaction.

This workshop will take a look at ways to refresh our foundational communication skills.

Course Objectives

We will illuminate why smart people make bad decisions with communication technology.

We will encourage participants to utilize the appropriate tools for better interpersonal interaction.

Workshop will show participants how to use communication to maintain credibility and efficacy in the workplace.
