Description: Talent attraction is no walk in the park. It's more competitive than ever and takes real teamwork. Carly McCrory-McKay (Champaign County Economic Development Corporation) and Terri Reifsteck (Visit Champaign County) will share all the tools and resources they have developed that are available to support local employers. From the You're Welcome CU job board to the newly launched Chambana Welcome Crew to the Champaign County Recruiters Network, these two will share what's available to you as a human resource professional + their tips & tricks for making it all work. They'll also share what's ahead - and how you can get involved.
BIOS
Carly McCrory-McKay is the Executive Director of the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. She's been with the organization for 10 years and is responsible for business retention and attraction, marketing Champaign County, and supporting the county’s economic development efforts in partnership with local municipalities, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Parkland College, private industry, and other community organizations. Champaign County EDC works broadly across the region to support economic development initiatives, programs, and events including Champaign-Urbana AgTech Week, Chambana Welcome Crew, Made in Champaign County, You're Welcome CU, Innovation Celebration, and much more. Carly graduated from Eastern Illinois University and moved to Champaign-Urbana in 2015 with her husband, Tate. In the summer, you can usually find Carly at Triptych eating a food truck smash burger, enjoying live music at Friday Night Live in downtown Champaign, or going overboard on flowers at the Urbana Farmers' Market.
Terri Reifsteck is the Vice President of Marketing & Community Engagement for Visit Champaign County. She’s been with the tourism bureau for 10 years and is responsible for promoting the greater Champaign County area as an Outside of Ordinary destination to live, work, and visit. She is responsible for starting the Champaign County Area Restaurant Week, the Champaign County Film Office, and every year, writes and designs the Experience Guide. Visit Champaign County works with numerous events in the community including the IHSA Boys State Basketball Tournament, IHSA State Football Championships, IHSA Individual Wrestling Tournament, Hot Rod Power Tour, the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon, and much more. Terri, a former member of the Marching Illini, came to the University of Illinois for school and stayed in the area, where she’s raised two kids, who can’t really be called kids anymore. In the summer, you can usually find Terri hanging with the goats at Prairie Fruits Farm, on a kayak at Middle Fork, or buying local art at summer festivals.
