Presentation Description:

Hiring has gotten weird—bot-written resumes, AI-coached interviews, and candidates who seem perfect online but fall flat in person. This eye-opening session breaks down how AI is reshaping recruiting (on both sides) and gives you clear, practical ways to stay in control. If you’re screening, interviewing, or making hiring decisions in today’s digital landscape—especially if you’ve ever reviewed a too-polished resume, sat through a scripted interview, or felt like tech was working against you—this session is for you. You’ll leave with smart strategies, legal insight, and your own AI hiring survival kit.

Learning Objectives:

• Spot AI-generated resumes that look impressive but don’t hold up

• Handle AI-coached interviews and get beyond the scripted answers

• Detect red flags in application volume, timing, or language that signal bot-driven apply tactics

• Use AI yourself—ethically and strategically—for writing job posts, screening smarter, and interviewing with consistency

• Prepare for upcoming laws like Illinois’ Human Rights Act (it will be in your state sooner than you think)

• Take back control of your hiring process without slowing things down

Presenter Bio:

Lauren Patel is a workforce and growth strategist directing marketing, communications, AI adoption, and training strategy at AAIM Employers’ Association. She leads cross-functional teams that align digital systems, sales enablement, and leadership development to measurable business outcomes. Lauren championed Aaime Hart, a ChatGPT-powered HR assistant, and created AI in HR Week to equip organizations with practical AI capability. Known for her candid, business-focused approach, she helps leaders turn disruption into structured growth.

For in-person attendance, arrive at the main entrance of Illinois Terminal (45 East University Ave, Champaign) and go left to take the elevators to the 4th floor. There is free parking to the east of the railroad tracks in the lot that is just south of Chester St. and west of Water St. If you choose this parking, you would walk under the viaduct on Chester St. to head to Illinois Terminal. However, you can also choose to pay for parking in the lot just outside of the terminal. 

This session will be eligible for both SHRM and HRCI Credits.
